Walking Foot and Quilt as You Go for Beginners



Learn a new way to make larger quilted projects. Rana O'Connor will share her Quilt as You Go (QAYG) technique in this table runner class. 

The process of making this small home decor project will teach the basics of "quilting as you go". Finishing a large queen or king size quilt on your domestic sewing machine can be cumbersome. Rana will help us break it down into small bite size pieces that are far easier to maneuver through our machines,


Supply List*
(1) 12 ½” Square of Focus Fabric (12” finished) This may be either a printed fabric or a
pieced block.
(3) 15” squares of Warm and Natural batting and (3) 15” squares of Backing Fabric,
spray basted together. (If you don’t have basting spray, you may do this step in class)
(14) 2 ½” x 18” strips of fabric to coordinate with your focus fabric or block. (This may be
7 fabrics, 2 strips of each color.)
(2) 1 ½” x 18” strips of fabric for covering seams. May use scraps, or coordinate with
backing fabric.
(1) 120” strip of binding, cut at 2 ½”, pieced as needed, folded Wrong sides together
and pressed lengthwise.
(A KIT including all of the above is available. Let us know when you register if
you want a kit)

Sewing machine you are familiar with
Walking Foot for your machine (be sure you have the right one!)
90/14 topstitch needle
Thread for piecing and quilting (we will use the same thread for both. A 50 weight
polyester is good)
Bobbin Thread (ie Bottom Line by Superior Threads)
Mini Iron and Pressing surface OR Finger Presser (optional)
Straight Pins
505 Basting Spray
