Serger Obedience



This class is designed to help you understand and use your serger more effectively.
Taught by Renee Bylund, the key areas covered in this class will be:

  • How the serger differs from a sewing machine
  • Basic care and maintenance of the machine
  • Understand those tension dials
  • What a balanced seam looks like
  • How to create different stitch patterns using your tension dials
  • Performance decisions: How many threads do I use, when and where


What you need to bring to class:
  • Serger and all the accessories that came with your machine
  • Foot Control
  • Power cord
  • Serger manual

Other supplies:
  • A variety of fabric scraps: cottons, knits, fleece, denim, etc...
  • Scissors
  • 4 spools of serger thread, one color to match each color of your 4 tension dials. (*Purchase only good quality serger threads, such as Maxilock or Todilock. Maxilock is sold at The Sewing Machine Exchange.)
