Stacked Coins - A Beginning Quilt Class

Start with a charm pack or 40 5-inch squares, choose a solid for background fabric, and learn to cut, chain piece, stitch and complete a baby-friendly quilt top.

Approximate finished size: 34” x 40”

1 Charm Pack of pre-cut 5” squares (you will need at least 40 different 5” squares)
If you don’t find these locally, here are two online sources:

1¼ yard solid color or fabric that reads as solid (blender) for Background
Please Cut Background fabric into strips across the width of fabric (approximately 40”)
Cut 2 strips 5” wide by 40” and 2 strips 6 ½” wide by 40”
1½ yard for Backing
¼ yard for Binding (a fat quarter is fine, or you may purchase extra Background or Backing fabric)
1 crib-size batting
These are MINIMUM amounts. It won't hurt to have more.
* Sewing Machine with bobbin, feet, foot pedal and power cords
¼” sewing machine foot is best for this class
* Rotary Cutter (must have your own, mark it in some way)
* Thread for piecing: a neutral color polyester or cotton thread
Bobbin thread if you have it (very fine polyester thread, neutral color)
* Seam Ripper
*Fabric Scissors
*Thread Snips (small scissors)
*Straight Pins (flat head pins are preferable)
