Stacked Coins - A Beginning Quilt Class



Start with a charm pack or 40 5-inch squares, choose a solid for background fabric, and learn to cut, chain piece, stitch and complete a baby-friendly quilt top. Approximate finished size: 34” x 40”

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

1 Charm Pack of pre-cut 5” squares (you will need at least 40 different 5” squares)*

1¼ yard solid color or fabric that reads as solid (blender) for Background*
    Please Cut Background fabric into strips across the width of fabric (approximately 40”)
    Cut two strips 5” wide by 40” and 2 strips 6 ½” wide by 40”

1½ yard for Backing


¼ yard for Binding (a fat quarter is fine, or you may purchase extra Background or Backing fabric)


1 crib-size batting


These are MINIMUM amounts. It won't hurt to have more.

TOOLS FOR QUILTERS

* Sewing Machine with bobbin, feet, foot pedal and power cords
*¼” sewing machine foot is best for this class
* Rotary Cutter (must have your own, mark it in some way)
* Thread for piecing: a neutral color polyester or cotton thread
*Bobbin thread if you have it (very fine polyester thread, neutral color)
* Seam Ripper
*Fabric Scissors
*Thread Snips (small scissors)
*Straight Pins (flat head pins are preferable)
